In the heart of Wales, a quiet revolution began in 2019.
After years of watching friends, family, and strangers battle silently with their mental health, I knew something had to change. Too many men were suffering in silence, buried under the weight of stigma and the unspoken rule that “real men” don’t talk about their struggles. I set up Against All Odds (Wales) as a men’s support group—a space where men could speak freely, seek help, and find brotherhood without shame.
The need was greater than I imagined. Stories poured in. Struggles shared in hushed tones turned into healing words. We weren’t just a group—we were a lifeline.
Then, the world stopped.
During the COVID lockdown, something unexpected happened. Women began reaching out. Not just for their partners, but for themselves. They were dealing with isolation, anxiety, and fear—and they needed somewhere to turn.
That was the moment we evolved. By 2022, I dropped the word “men’s” from our title. We weren’t just here for men anymore. We were here for everyone—men and women of all ages, all backgrounds, all walks of life. At Against All Odds, our arms are open to all, regardless of gender, age, beliefs, or identity. Because no one should fight their battles alone.
Now, in 2025, our mission continues to grow. This Christmas, we’ve launched a new campaign—to give out 500 free personal safety alarms to girls and women across Wales. Safety shouldn't be a privilege. Everyone deserves to feel secure when walking home, going to work, or simply living their lives.
